Many of us cat owners are of the belief that our cat would never go out on hunting, especially since we love and spoil the cat and obviously well-fed. Why then, should it concern about mice and birds? Well, it is a cat after all, and a hunter is a part of the cat’s instinct and psyche.
Cats by nature appear lazy and rest most of the time by our estimates. But on sharp observation you will realize that a cat uses much energy in short bursts and sleeps to recuperate itself.
If one gets to see hunting a cat, it is similar to its big associates of the same form that is the big cats viz. lions, tigers, cheetah, and leopard. It uses its claws and front legs to kill the prey and tries to drill its teeth into the victim’s neck.
Cats are opportunistic, often unethically hunters. They hunt birds in daytime and leave the rodents alone and conversely at night. They also impart skills to their children (kittens) the fine art of hunting, evolution. Kittens are brought into existence with the hunter’s instinct but the skills are made perfect by their mothers.
Losing your cat is a worrying feel, for that specific concern, losing any of your pets is. Cats normally do not run away from home, it’s just that they want to learn more, sometimes.
The first area we should seek is our own home, in which it could hide may be in all the rooms, wardrobes, empty buckets, refrigerators, clothes dryers, basements, washing machine, garage, attics. Keep calling its name, although it might not react all the time. Next it’s time to move on outdoors to the wilderness area in the garden, such as trees. Search in all possible space it could crawl into.
Check with close neighbors in all directions and ask them to do the same. If it still not found, it’s time to call in the army by recruiting neighborhood children who are old enough to help you search for the cat.
If this unsuccessful you’ll have to talk to people who habitually the neighborhood and show them your cat’s photos and ask for assistance. Remember; do not try to find a lost cat at night alone.
Eventually, don’t lose hope on it, keep looking the same places periodically, do not blame others for your lost cat and you’ll see that your cat will come back to you if not today then may be tomorrow. Cats are known to return home after a long period of time.

Let’s suppose on your lucky day, you get a phone call saying that your cat has been found. For your own safety, remember the following:
There are dangerous people in the society who target on victims by using “found” pets as a gambit.
NEVER show a respond to a “found” cat contact by yourself. Take some friends with you.
Arrange the meeting in an open area such as a public place.
NEVER ask the person to come to your house unless you happen to know them well.
Beware of money scams, like a truck driver calling you to inform that he found your cat and has it. But since he is out-of-state he requires you to pay shipping so he could return your cat. This person doesn’t have your cat; he is just trying to benefit from your expense.
Never send forth all identification information regarding your cat. If the person who claims to have found your cat can’t describe these characteristics to you, you recognize the scam!
